I am very excited to announce the creation of the Melbourne Modern Quilt Guild! After reading on Oh, Fransson!’s blog how Elizabeth put her hand up to open the Portland, Oregon branch, I got all inspired, and asked if the Guild is international, and do we have one in Melbourne, Australia. Well from there, it all happened pretty quickly, and the Guild decided to go international, and I put my hand up to open the Melbourne branch!
It’s all very new, I don’t have anything worked out yet, such as a meeting place, and at present, I’m the only member here. I have officer positions open, and as I’m creating our Ning network (for now that means copying exactly what the LA group has on their site, until I can figure out how Ning works and customize it for our own look). I have created a logo and a favicon, and that’s it. I’m extremely excited about this, and hope that, if you’re a quilter in Melbourne, you’ll come join me. Here’s the link to our site: http://mlbmodernquiltguild.ning.com So spread the word! Let me know if you’re interested in an officer position, and also if you have any questions.
5/2/2010: I’ve just changed the logo and favicon back to be the same as the Mother Ship’s

How exciting! Oh I wish I was in Melbourne. Good Luck and hope you get members soon.
Lilly, I've been thinking about you since I created this and wished that you were here too!
Hi Helene, I'm quite keen to see if I can get a modern quilt guild started here on the Gold Coast. How did you find the whole setting up process – any tips?? Just love the fabric you have used – Wild Thyme – did you get that in Aus? Look forward to hearing from you – Tracey (worldtiles@aapt.net.au is my easiest contact….)
