So frustrating! I spent my class time last Wednesday sewing 8 circles onto the squares, and came home to finish the other 40 at home. Well, I finally got myself all organized
and stitched my first piece. I couldn’t work it out at first, but it was all wrong! Can you see the puckering? It’s all kinda wavy!
I finally worked out (in consultation with the tech support a.k.a. daughter #1, Devorah) that what was required was a tension adjustment. It was rather bizarre actually having to call her for advice on sewing, something I’ve done all my life. Thing is, I haven’t needed to mess with the tension on my machine for decades I reckon. So long that I’d forgotten how to adjust the bobbin tension. Good thing Devorah’s a sewer too, so she could point me in the right direction. Thanks Devorah. So I messed around with the tension, starting from the “normal” position of 6, and had to go all the way down to 1!
And what’s the very next thing I did? Yep, that’s right. I called the service man to come pick up my poor old wonderful ’73 machine to give her an oil change. In the meantime, I’m not sure if I should perservere and see if I can get it sewing nicely, or call it a day and wait patiently till next Wednesday’s class when I can use their old Husqvarna. I’ll see. Maybe I’ll give it one more run. Tomorrow.

I find even if I haven’t used my machine in days it’s when you can’t use it that you really really want to. Hope you ca last till Wednesday!
Yes Lilly, it’s all Murphy’s fault, him and his darn law!
