I seriously want to pitch my tent and camp out right smack in the middle of Tessuti’s in Flinders Lane. Soooooo many beautiful fabrics, and the most amazing sale I’ve ever seen! Well, not since around 1976 when one of my favourite shops in Toorak Road that I think was called Atelier was selling those stunning, tailored pure wool pants in red, cream and grey for $15, marked down from $85 in their closing down sale! I don’t quite know why, but that’s a sale I remember really well. I guess it’s because I really loved those red wool pants, especially since they were a size 8 pencil-leg pant that made me look pretty slim, and I hadn’t been a size 8 since I was a kid! And, of course remember that a size 8 back then meant something much skinnier than it does now. I was pretty happy with myself.
I digress! Back to Tessuti. When you can buy any piece of fabric on their remnants table and any bolt of fabric in one of three big tubs for $10 each, that’s heaven on earth to me. It was quite a task choosing what to buy. Ultimately, I had to just bite my lip and say to myself “there’ll always be more, you HAVE TO STOP!” Here’s what I came home with…

a beaded designer sheer silk, some olive poly/cotton, a brown something, and dark green rayon lining
My head’s spinning with ideas. Also working overtime to figure out how I can get to go back for some more. I think I need more summer fabrics. What do you reckon are my chances? Not so good really. August is a bit of a tight month this year. Although you never know. It is our anniversary on the 28th. Fabric’s a good anniversary present, isn’t it? Surely I can swing this somehow!

wow! An envious haul! I am deliberately not going because my wallet would hate me for it afterwards! What are you going to make from it all?
