Welcome! I'm so thrilled you're here! I'm Helene, and this blog is about my sewing, dressmaking, quilting, knitting, and sometimes other craft exploits.

I hope you enjoy reading it.

And if you're interested in where my passion for sewing comes from, you might like to read my About Me page. I have a fantastic old photo of my great grandfather's factory in Europe.

Yep, ditched the pink and green. Not really me. I’m loving the deep red and light grey flowery background though! Sure hope you like it too! Still trying to figure out how to change a couple of text areas from light brown to my red, Firebug isn’t working for me just at the minute. Do you know how to tweak css stylesheets? Wish I could learn all that website stuff in a flash, like Trinity in The Matrix 3 learned how to fly that fancy helicopter in like 3 seconds! Wouldn’t that be something! Until then, it’s trial and error, and learning more, beyond all that I’ve already taught myself. So, hope you have a minute to take a quick squizzy at the new look. I think this one will settle in for a long while. I really like it.

Oh, and while you’re there, have a little look at the new patterns I’ve added. Very cute patterns from The Makers’ Journal, by Pamela Cupit. I spent a wondering hour with Pamela over an incredible soy hot chocolate over at Ganache in Toorak Road, South Yarra. She’s such a delight! And I’m completely inspired out the wazoo by her design ethic, what she’s out to accomplish, and the incredible thinking that she’s putting into building her company and designing her products.

So much so that I’m going to do a “Meet the Designer” session with her. Perhaps the first of a series? We’ll see. But certainly with Pamela. I think today’s dressmakers/seamstresses need to know the “behind the scenes” stuff that makes her sewing patterns so special. So, Stay tuned for that! It’ll most like be in the next week or so, coinciding with the release of her next new pattern.
