Now. My timing is so wrong. I should always trust myself, and buy things I love when I see them. You’d think I’d-a learned this one by now, wouldn’t you? I fell in love with this blanket and the original colours it was made up in, when it first showed up on the Purl Bee site. In 2008! I can’t believe it. It seems like only a year or so ago. Not three! Anyway. So now, I’m really keen, right, I’m ready to buy, ready to knit, and Purl Soho has only 3 out of the 7 colours available! Bummer!!!! I immediately went to work, searching the internet, but you can imagine the kinds of things I found when I searched on “Alchemy” (the yarn brand) and “Temple” (the yarn itself) and “Lantern” (the first colour I was missing). Yeah. Anything but yarn! So I’m wondering if maybe you might know where else – on this entire planet – I can find another retailer who stocks this beautiful yarn. Please let me know if you have any ideas. I know I can always substitute colours, but they’re not the same. And once I have a colourway fixed firmly in my brain, I find it nigh impossible to shake it loose. So, do you know anywhere I should try? The specific colours I’m looking for are Lantern, Citrine, Topaz, and Platinum.
I came across this via a post on sooz’s blog. I love the idea! It’s brilliant. It’s as if we had something to do with what happens in our country, and with our craft. I’ve made my pledge. If you’re a knitter, and I must confess, I have been one in the past when my girls were little, but I’ve been eying off a couple of projects now that I have a grandchild on the way, and I definitely think I’d rather have our good Australian wool made into yarn here in Australia, than have to buy it overseas with the added expense of shipping etc, and the loss to Australian industry and jobs that would entail. Good on you, Kylie Gusset, we can make this happen! |
