So glad I made the trip to Kensington! Only took about 30 minutes, if you don’t count my little detour. Yes, I did miss the turn-off to Princes Hwy (a.k.a. the Melbourne Airport ramp), but thanks to my new best friend, the Whereis app, I quickly made it back to the right path, and in no time at all, I was walking up the fabulous old staircase to the second floor, and found the party! In case you missed their blog post, Ink & Spindle celebrated their 3rd Birthday today, and we were all invited.
I love the aprons the girls were wearing! Under all the paint is their divine Birch Forest in Deep Red. Must get some.
You can’t really see clearly, but there are little onesies and children’s tees on the table from Ink & Spindle’s Inklet range in soft-as-can-be organic jersey. (I wish I knew if we’re having a grandson or a granddaughter!)
A couple of those irresistible little parcels found their way into my hands, and before I could say, “ohmygodiwantoneofeverythingbutihavetostopbecauseicanthavethemall!” another one jumped right at me!
Cucumber sandwiches, dips, and a chocolate cake with the Ink & Spindle Birch Forest design in icing were served around, and we were all treated to a screen-printing demo as the completely delightful Teegs and Lara pushed ink across the table, back and forth, and before our eyes, the beautiful Robins Egg blue part of this Flowering Gum design appeared on the fabric.
Fascinating process! Tegan explained how the screen is actually made, and man! Now that’s a process with a million steps!

see those blow dryers lined up at the end? they dry the paint of each section as the screen is moved down the table
I had such a lovely time. Oh, and here’s what came home with me…
