Here’s the last block I needed to do for the “Oh, Bee-have!” quilting bee:
I really hope that she likes it.

I’m not sure this is my best quilting work. Hmmm. But it’s finished. I’d say it’s a weight off my shoulders, but I’m now worried. I didn’t have a skeric of fabric left, and I think it’s shrunk from the 18″ it started out as. It’s also not square on the batting, and I just wish it’d been cut a little larger, so I could have trimmed it down nicely. I worry so much with quilting bees – what if it’s my block that brings the whole thing down???!!! Know what I mean? Anyway, it’s done now. That’s it. I’m not sure that quilt-as-you-go is for me. Nor quilting bees for that matter WOW! Look at me!!! Machine quilting! No, I said look at me, not my crooked sewing! That hump you see on the left next to my machine foot, that’s not the crooked sewing I referenced. That’s just a hump in the fabric. Promise. But it has been more of a challenge than I thought to get the lines straight. Is it age you think? I used to be able to sew straight. Darn. Sigh. I’m over halfway through Frogdancer‘s block from our “Oh, Beehave!” quilting bee. It’ll be such a load off my shoulders when it’s done. It’s just so overdue, it’s embarrassing! I don’t know what I was so worried about! This quilting is so much easier than I thought! It does take concentration to get the lines straight, but no different to any other sewing I’d be doing. It definitely is time-and-thread-consuming though. However. I hope she’ll be happy with it. I’ll post a pic of the block when I finish it. Tomorrow I hope. Thanks Shirley! Now I have all my blocks, bar one that I still need to make, for my MMQG “Oh, Bee-have!” quilting bee quilt. So, that means I can begin cutting up the sashing, and sew it all together! Very exciting! Hope it all looks as good in reality as it does in my head. You know, that’s always a bit of a worry, isn’t it. Here’s Shirley’s block: Rachel brought me her block on Sunday at the MMQG Sit and Sew Day – adore it! I finished one of mine on Sunday, so now I am only waiting for two blocks – one from the group, and another of mine. That will make 12 blocks, and I can begin to sew it together. Scroll down to see the fabulous material for the sashing, and how some of the blocks look on top of it. ![]() My Oh, Beehave Quilting Bee blocks on the sashing fabric, and the piece I'm holding up is for the back I know, very busy, right? Love it! |
