I just had to make this one too! I’m wearing it out and about today (in the rain) around Mornington Peninsula, lunch at the fabulous Port Phillip Estate Dining Room, and visiting many a cellar door. I actually intended to get this bag made and in the post in time for her birthday, but … well, you know those well-laid plans, right? So, I’ve just checked on the Australia Post website, and my parcel is at the Mansfield PO now, “awaiting pick up”. I hope she picks up her mail today!  Linen Wristlet More pics here. You may or may not notice that the pocket is on the front of the bag in this version. Yeah. An error. In my haste (that word isn’t used so much these days, is it) to get it into the post quickly, I didn’t pay attention to this little detail. I hope it’s OK. I’ve used a lovely linen I had in my cupboard, and a treasured remnant of the Ink & Spindle Flowering Gum in Olive and Robins Egg for the front flap. I can show you now. Here’s the secret item I’ve been working on…  Summer Heat Wristlet When my sister-in-law saw my “On Cloud Nine Wristlet“, she loved it. So, I’ve made her one too. I really liked the dots fabric, but it looked a little plain, so I straight-stitched across the fabric before ironing on the wadding. Looks pretty good, doesn’t it?  the inside pocket More pics here. I’m now making another bag for my other sister-in-law. Just working out which fabrics to use. Also, I’m going to make one for myself in the Aqua Palette of Heather Ross’ “Far Far Away II” fabrics. Flowering Gum City Shopper  fabulous ceramic button About an hour ago I finished working on my City Shopper bag. I’ve done all I can do now, everything’s ready to be put together. The strap’s even on. The pocket in the lining is all done. Everything‘s done – except! I haven’t got the right button for this bag. That wooden button I originally thought would be perfect, isn’t at all. Wrong look altogether. And until I get a button, and sew it on, I cannot finish the last step in the process – sewing the lining onto the facing. So frustrating! But I won’t rush it now. The right button is worth waiting for, don’t you think?  buttonless |
