Think I might put the final border on Sarah’s quilt tonight. Then it’ll be ready to stack the layers, pin and begin quilting the triangles. Whaddaya reckon Seh?

I finally made it back to quilt class. So great to be back. Right after my appointment with the foot surgeon, Sarah dropped me at Amitié. Trish pulled out one of her fabulous border designs and created a template for me from a piece of tuile. So, off I go. This should be done in no time at all. Then the edging and.. dare I say it… this will be complete. Can’t believe it’s this close. Wow. So now I’ve bought the fabric for the back of the French Provincial Square quilt B, I’ll take a few hours next week to sew the pieces for both the front and the back of this quilt. I also purchased the batting for both square quilts, so as soon as all the sewing is done, I can call the quilting lady for a quote and to discuss designs for quilting both of these quilts for me. Then all I’ll need to do is sew on the edgings and they’ll be complete! I’ve got my work cut out for me. Mum and I picked two pieces for me to prepare for my audition. Mozart’s Fantasia in D Minor, and Beethoven’s Leichte Sonate Op. 49 Nr. 2, 1st movement – Allegro ma non troppo. And to prepare my hands, Hanon and Czerny exercises. So so so so confronting… as I go further along in the project I gotta keep my head straight cos it’s oh so easy to be disempowered by my current level of skill. Or rather, lack thereof. OH MY GOD!!! I can hardly contain myself! I’m jumping up and down, moon boot and all! I just got home and there’s an email and a voicemail from the lecturer. I’m sitting at my computer writing an email back to him when my phone rings and it’s the co-ordinator calling me back. We spoke for awhile, I told her my story, and when I mentioned Mr. Spivakovsky she knew of him. Anyway, the bottom line is she said she probably might have one spot for next year available, and she wants me to prepare 3 pieces and come play for her to see what kind of plan to create, a 1-year plan or even a 5-year plan regarding the BMus degree. She said I should go ahead and play for the lecturer also, so I now need my Mum to help work out what pieces to prepare. Gotta be a classical piece, a romantic piece, and a modern piece. And technical, not just slow or anything. So she can see where I’m at. OH MAN! |
