At the beginning of 2011, I joined up to the Melbourne Modern Quilt Guild‘s “Oh, Bee-have!” quilting bee. I chose a log cabin design, and used the gorgeous Alexander Henry June Bug fabrics, as well as two Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton Solids Jelly Roll Ups in Bright and Pastel that I’d bought online from the Fat Quarter Shop. Here are the blocks that the 10 other quilters in the Bee made for my quilt, as well as the two blocks I made. I just adore them! (Please forgive the lack of pressing on some of the blocks.) Why “Gelati Parti”? Because the colours are yummy ice-cream gelati, and it’s a happy, happy quilt. Anyway, that’s what Gita and I decided.

I’m using Kona Cotton Solid in a nice dark grey for the sashing, and I’ve cut 3½” squares from the June Jubilee fabric to go in the corners between the blocks.
This gorgeous fabric is for the back:
I’m not entirely sure yet how I’m going to quilt this one, but I do know that I’m going to find a really nice black and white spot or stripe for the binding.
