up to my ears in fabric

I succumbed! But I’m so excited.  Last night I went ahead and purchased the Laura Gunn Poppy and Hokkoh House Market Fresh fabrics I’ve been drooling over from Hawthorne Threads and I can’t wait till they arrive! At first I hesitated for a couple of days, but as I saw two of the Laura Gunn fabrics sell out & depart from my shopping cart, I acted quick smart! I ended up buying those other two fabrics from Cotton Thread Fabrics. Here are the two fabric collections I purchased. I did buy all the fabrics in the range, but these images only show a sampling. That’s not all though. I also went all soft at the knees and ordered some Alexander Henry’s Fashionista in Sage. I’ve been staring at that fabric for weeks now, and found it at Pink Polka Dot Studio. See below…

today's accomplishments - packed bag & bought fabric

So before going into the hospital tomorrow morning, I’ve done the following:

  1. Packed my toiletries, PJs, X-rays and crutches (for going home)
  2. Bought the fabric Gita chose for her Chelsea quilt, including that gorgeous beige fabric with big brown flowers for the back. Should look sensational Gita! Well picked!
  3. Cut the top and layers for the matza cover
  4. Prepared the letters for “matza” in hebrew with vliesofix to be finely cut out and then sewn onto top of cover
  5. Organized a new book to read – Gita’s bringing it for me to I can take it to the hospital tomorrow morning

Not bad, eh! I am now preparing for the seminar that I’m about to lead tonight, then I’ll get myself dressed and go. I only have to make sure I eat dinner before midnight and I’m all set for the morning.

fabric mail delivery

OK, so in order to complete my quilts, what did I have to do? Buy fabric of course! I needed fabric for the backs of the French Provincial Square quilts, border fabric and back for Sarah’s triangle quilt, and I haven’t even begun to look with Gita at what she’ll want.

The French Provincial quilts were a bit of a problem. The L’Esprit Provence range by American Jane came out in I think 2006, or might have even been 2005. I did manage to find some remaining fabrics at The Quilters’ Store in Brisbane. Love that shop. I’ve been there before with Karen a couple of years ago. That’s what came in the mail today. All I need then to finish project iii is to check if I’ve got the right padding and then begin quilting it all. I’ll need some edge fabric too, but I think I can find something in the cupboard.
